Why Add Provoke to Your Station's Schedule?
Provoke Radio is a compelling 30-minute weekly program that can function as a stand-alone or as a complement to existing social justice and religious programming. The program currently airs in the Baltimore/Washington area, St. Louis, San Francisco, Santa Clara, New York and is available nationwide through SIRIUS Satellite Radio. With a widespread audience and still gaining popularity, Provoke's message is as significant as it is unique.

About Provoke
The desire for social justice has long been a central theme of all the world's religions. Provoke starts with that desire and engages listeners from the vantage of their own faith. The program explores issues of social justice and ethics within the context of inter-religious dialogue, revealing a rich treasure of common values. Provoke believes communications is a mighty tool in the promotion of justice. In a world where many voices are absent from the more powerful media, Provoke tackles issues that affect the poor and marginalized throughout the world. And in so doing, provides a voice for the voiceless.

Not Your Daddy's Talk Show; Not Your Mama's Religious Programming
In the end, Provoke is not just another talk show where both guests and listeners express their opinions about what the "other" should do to solve a problem. Provoke speaks eloquently to the individual, calling forth a profound and personal response to issues of the day. Provoke serves to raise consciousness and inspire thoughtful reflection, with the ultimate goal of motivating listeners to take action, should they be so inspired. And we do so using contemporary music and conversational language. You won't find any hymns, homilies, platitudes, or proselytizing on Provoke.

Audience
Provoke's primary audience is middle-upper income adults, ages 25-54. The program's secondary audience is comprised of adults 18-25 and 55+, as well as the poor, the underserved and the marginalized.

“Just wondering if you broadcast to any cities in Canada? I like what your mission is and as a teacher and socially concerned Christian, I would like to hear some of your broadcasts and perhaps incorporate the topics into my religious studies classes. Looking forward to hearing back from you.”
Kevyn Ernest, Canada

“How do I find out broadcast times for the shows in our area?”
Janet, Los Angeles

“What are the call letters for Provoke in Milwaukee, WI area?”
Michael McLernon, Milwaukee, WI

“My son introduced me to your great program…I just wanted you to know how much I enjoy your program. Can we get it in Cleveland?”
Pete Foradori, Cleveland, Ohio

“Good afternoon. I accidentally came across your web site a few months ago and I've been listening to your programs ever since. I teach a 10th grade morality course in the St. Thomas More Parish School of Religion. With your permission, I would like to play two of your programs for my students…as they address a number of principles and issues I've tried to make them aware of and discuss.
Thank you for your consideration.
Randy White, Baton Rouge, LA

†“Your show on the Ignatian Volunteer Corps blew us all away! †A couple of us have listened to it several times… You blended information and experience beautifully…. They’re all such generous, talented and humble people…†Every IVC regional director is going to want to use this show to promote IVC in their community. †I’ve sent it out to our national board. †We’ve alerted scads of other people, too… Listening to your show will give them an experience of IVC that we really want them to have.”
Suzanne Geaney, Baltimore, MD

“Give thanks for the recent Provoke re: the Algebra Project, aired this eve on 90.3 FM KUSF!! The thoughts conveyed by the youth are pure gems - is there any way to have those in print? †We are experiencing a disturbing wave of teen deaths in our S.F. neighborhoods, realize the there is at least one generation of elders missing - from birth- and the need is yesterday. Positive infiltration of education systems is indeed one means to effect attitudes of teachers and students, and hopefully, parents. Your whole presentation is inspiring. Keep on keepin' on, like we used to do.”
Judah Dwyer, San Francisco, CA

“It would be great to have you on the air here, as well as
Southern California where I'm originally from. I've definitely
passed the word on about the show.”
Jeremy Cruz, Massachusetts

“I would like to take a moment to simply say thank you for this program. Since I heard of your program this past fall, I have been a regular listener. In fact, I have listened to just about all your programs through your archives. I have recommended many of your programs to friends, families, students and parishioners. (I am a seminarian and teacher with the Basilian Fathers in Toronto)

As this new year emerges, be assured of prayers. Please continue the good work. I, and many I know, look forward to each new program. As a result of many programs, you have challenged me to make changes in my life and ministry. Difficult as they may be, I do believe I am living a life closer to the one I am intended to live as a result.

I first heard about you through your ad in "Commonweal” magazine. Since then, I have met others through my work at Salt and Light Television (Canada's Catholic Television network) who have brought up Provoke in conversation. We are all fans.”
Chris Valka, Toronto, CANADA

“I like what you are doing a lot!”
Donna Schaper, New York, NY

“I was very moved by your program. I believe your program, by airing (this) story will help children. I am happy that you have done this.”
Steve Armiger, Dillon, Montana

“Just viewed your website today for the first time. I saw the advertisement in America magazine. I was enthralled by topics and the speakers. I do not think I can get you on the radio and using the Internet is not feasible so I was wondering if it’s possible to purchase selected broadcasts by CD. I belong to a Just Faith group and believe any and all of your programs would be excellent fodder for discussion. I know you are very busy, but if possible I would like to hear from you about this request.”
Ellen Petes, Greensburg, KANSAS

“Is there any possibility that you could send me CD's of two radio programs which I would love to have in my files. †I thoroughly enjoy so much the intellect of Fr. Spahn's guests. †The program does "provoke" thoughts that I never would have thought about, but definitely leaves me with a much better understanding of my God-given faith.† Thank you very much for your assistance, and hopefully this program will continue long into the future.”
Pat Hivner, Windsor, COLORADO

“Hi first time on your site; can't seem to determine where in the Albany NY area your show might be broadcast from…Help please!”

Provoke’s mission is to engage you in a reflection of important contemporary issues from the perspective of your own faith and religious tradition as an illustration of how the principles of peace, compassion and social justice can be lived out in every day life. A good tool for social justice education and discussion.
