Program Overview
Provoke is a compelling, 30-minute weekly radio program whose
mission is to engage listeners in a reflection of contemporary
issues from the vantage of their own faith. The program explores
issues of social justice and ethics within the context of
inter-religious dialogue, revealing a rich treasure of common
values. Provoke believes communications is a mighty tool in
the promotion of justice. In a world where many voices are
absent from the more powerful media, Provoke tackles issues
that affect the poor and marginalized throughout the world.
And in so doing, provides a voice for the voiceless.
Articles
- The Washington Times - July 11,
2006 - “Provoking the Faithful”
“He is like a lot of other talk-radio hosts: 35, single,
friendly, a smooth talker. But the Rev. Stephen Spahn is
also a Catholic priest. Father Spahn hosts Provoke Radio,
inviting religious leaders of all faiths to weigh in on
everything from poverty to prison.”

– “Are You Provoked?”
“What are the issues that really get you thinking
and talking? Illegal immigration? The unending rash of killings
in Sudan? The wrath of urban drug dealers? The state of
our prison system? If one of more of these topics has you
nodding your head, then you need to tune into Provoke Radio.”

– “Open to the Word”
“For reasons I cannot explain or take credit for,
I have been open to “The Word”. This is not
so much a boast as it is a predisposition. I seem to have
entered the world hard-wired and hungry in this way.”

- The Catholic Review – November
10, 2005 – “Provoke Radio from Saint Ignatius
Airing Social Justice Topics”
“Consider it radio with a mission. Addressing local,
